Wicklewood is home to The Ashcroft Project, a pioneering charity specialising in women's mental health care.
It opened in 1986 as a residential home for six people and became a registered charity in 1986.
In 2000 the headquarters of the charity moved into Wymondham, but the main complex remains in the village.
It now has eight flats for women tenants, and the Project also runs an innovative day activity service in Wymondham which attracts referrals from all over the county.
