100 YEARS AGO

Cottages of four parishes staged an industrial exhibition and flower show
Wicklewood, Crownthorpe, Hackford and Kimberley - and had given much attention to their entries.
The entries had reached a record in point of numbers and in excellence of quality.
By the renewed kindness of the Rev. S. D. Mansbridge, Chairman of the Show Committee, the exhibits were staged in the pretty surroundings of the vicarage.
Capt. H. L. Cautley, in declaring the show open, congratulated the committee on being able to continue for the ninth year such a successful show and with 60 entries.
The exhibition classes including darning, starching and ironing, knitting and crochet work.
