1983 to 1993 - originally in the old machine room but moved when the room was split. OS & layered product software from DEC was distributed on 8 inch floppies ( now they really were floppy ! ) and read on the integrated LSI-11 (PDP-11) console subsystem. Disk drives to the right and an old card reader(?) to the left on the table. Before Ethernet the 32 async. lines were used for terminal connections via the MICOM switch. Note the console is still a keyboard and paper job ( handy for logging software installations though - if you've ever watched error messages flash off your screen and into oblivion ).
A Computing Centre Services Card 1985-86 describes the facilities available at that time and more detail can be seen in the Computing Centre Annual Report for 1989 to 1990.
